Wednesday May 13th @ 7pm: Oxford SciBar - Can Babies Feel Pain? with Dr Rebeccah Slater
As adults can tell us where they are feeling pain, we can often simply ask them if pain medication is working. As babies cannot talk, we need to rely on other measures to find out whether they are feeling pain. It is not always possible to know whether a baby is in pain by looking at their behavior. Join us to hear Dr Rebeccah Slater discuss whether the use of modern brain imaging techniques can tell use whether a baby can feel pain. This is particularly important for babies admitted to intensive care after birth who may need a lot of medical intervention to be part of their essential medical care.
Come along to the Blue Room upstairs at St.Aldates Tavern on Wednesday May 13th at 7pm to find out more!
